HEALING FAMILIES PROGRAM
— The Healing Families program’s mission is to help facilitate successful family reunification for clients who are transitioning out the criminal justice system and who reside in Theodora House for women and Brandon Hall for men. The four components of the program are as follows:

1)   Women’s programming: individual and group treatment focused on increasing parenting skills, healthy relationship skills, anger management skills, and skills to heal from past trauma. There are family suites on site where moms can spend overnight visits with their children.

 

2)   Family programming: community volunteer led recreational activities for Healing Families parents and their children. Also, groups and individual counseling for children of parents who reside in Volunteers of America facilities

 

3)   Fatherhood programming: individual and group treatment focused on increasing parenting skills, healthy relationships skills, anger management skills, and skills to reduce family violence.
 

 4)   Aftercare programming: a home-based case manager will follow the families for one year post discharge from Volunteers of America facilities to insure successful family reunification.
